The myths of ancient Greece are teeming with intrigue, love stories, legacy hunting and betrayal. In this production, subbotnik´s fabulous storytellers rummage through the ancient Greek creation story in search of explanations for ourselves and the world around us. They piece together stories, images and songs to develop their very own style of musical narration. "Götter" ("Gods") marks the first part of the trilogy "Götter - Helden - Stadt" ("God - Heroes - City"), in which subbotnik utilises an intergenerational choir of Düsseldorf citizens as ensemble members.
"Subbotnik tells their creation story (...) as if they are modelling a lump of clay before our eyes: silly, highly dramatic and full of enchanting beauty, brimming with the most astonishing theatrical ideas and yet never overloaded. 75 minutes at the theatre rarely fly by so quickly; so much substance is rarely conveyed with such unmistakable ease."
