A house - my house. Our house? What is a house?
Two performers from Rwanda and three from Germany have teamed up on a journey in search of stories - both familiar and unfamiliar - of houses. Houses where people once lived, houses that were abandoned, houses that have disappeared. In English, the performers relate memories from Rwanda, Burundi, Kazakhstan and Germany. What starts off as recollections of houses soon turns into reflections on the concepts of home, homeland, identity and community.

"(...) a successful attempt to make complex and painful matters tangible. In doing so, Helios director Barbara Kölling and her Rwandan colleague Carole Karemera forgo efforts to depict modern parallels. (...) Hervé Kimenyi tells of a bombed-out family home in Burundi. The ensemble aids him by outlining the house?s floor plan with rods. That makes it graphic, vivid and - despite the serious nature of the content - at times even quite humorous."
